    About USS:

    The purpose(s) of this organization is three fold. First, USS provides an opportunity for professionalization into the discipline for undergraduate students. Undergraduates are encouraged to attend departmental functions, attend and present papers at professional meetings, and participate in USS sponsored events including career seminars and graduate school information sessions. Second, USS is committed to providing service to the University, Department, surrounding community, and global community through fundraisers and volunteer opportunities. Finally, the students of USS are representatives of the Department of Sociology and East Carolina University and, as such, should actively recruit majors, participate in the ECU Undergraduate Sociology Group Facebook page and other events sponsored by the Department and the organization throughout the year.

    Dues

    Dues are five dollars ($5), for all club memebers. Dues are due at the beginning of each semester.

    Membership - from Constitution

    ARTICLE III
    MEMBERSHIP
    Section 1. Membership is restricted to all declared and undeclared sociology major and minors’ currently enrolled students at East Carolina University.

    Section 2. A person is a member in good standing when he or she attends fifty percent of scheduled meetings and participates in at least one event per semester.

    Section 3. The rights of voting and holding an office are reserved for club members who are in accordance with Article III, Sections 1 and 2.

    Section 4. Equal rights will be accorded all member of USS without regard to race, color, national/and or ethnic origin, religion, creed, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, veteran status, or physical disability.
